Coat of arms

Shield Argent, a pair of scales Azure balanced by a flaming sword Gules, in base three billets Gules ordered 2:1. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "ALVARÃES - VIANA DO CASTELO".
Meaning:
Sword and scales are the attributes of St. Michael, the local patron saint.
