Coat of Arms

[COA of Bamble] image by Tomislav Šipek, 20 October 2015

Do I have to tell you the following is based on [c2j87].
The blazon could be: azure a ship's wheel or. In the original: I blått et gull skipsratt.
It was approved by the royal resolution of 12 December 1986 and the artwork is by Svein J. Haugholt.
However, the coat of arms is actually older that that. Bamble was formed in 1964 by unification of the municipalities of Langesund and Stathelle. The later used basically the same coat of arms drawn by A. B. Nagel-Alne and approved by the King on 09.04.1954. The coat of arms and the flag design, of course, refer to the close connection the municipality has with navigation.
