Coat of Arms

[COA of Modum] image by Tomislav Šipek, 15 January 2016

I blått en sølv trillingstreng, skråstilt venstre-høyre, dannet ved bølgesnitt. In English: Azure three bends sinister wavy argent.
Approved by the royal resolution of 15 March 1985 after a drawing by May Kristin Storø, after the design by Ovid Kvisterøy and Olav Sørensen. [c2j87]
The arms show the three main rivers in the municipality the Drammenselven, Snarumselven and Simoa. The blue background reminds to the blue dye production in Modum, that was prior to 1850 the largest in Europe with more the 1000 workers, and was the main source of cobalt blue in the period.
The page on new graphical profile of municipality is available here. A statue based on the Modum flag was erected there, http://www.modum.kommune.no/stoltheten-avduket.5333306-103694.html
