To quote the Lithuanian Heraldry Commission on Facebook, "Sužionys is located in a particularly rich natural environment. There are lakes and rivers, forests and woods. The Red Listed white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) lives and breeds in and around the area. The eagle became the main charge of the Sužionys coat of arms. Gules symbolises the past struggles of the inhabitants of Sužioņys, while the argent symbolises water." The designer of the flag and coat of arms is Rolandas Rimkūnas, the coat of arms being approved by the president on September 26, 2023.
