Located in Kyoto City Kyoto Prefecture and established in 1949. The embroidered ceremonial flag has light reddish purple background with a gold school mark and vertically written in gold kanji university name with gold border in light purple fringe. The university flag has light reddish purple background with a gold school mark and vertically written in gold kanji university name. The school mark was adopted on April 1, 1921. It is a combination of kanji 京都 "Kyoto" and a descending wisteria. It is said that the wisteria is derived from the temple emblem of the Honganji sect of the Jodo Shinshu Buddhism, which is reminiscent of a humble woman in its light purple blooms with the head of the wisteria leaning down.

Athletic Association; The club flag has blue background with a white university symbol mark and horizontally written kanji and English university name in white. The symbol mark is light purple petal and green leaves.In July 2009 Kyoto Women's University has a new symbol mark. The wisteria flower, the symbol of Kyoto Women's University, is arranged as a butterfly, representing the wisteria petals and the "education of the heart" that Kyoto Women's aims for. This new symbol mark and logotype were designed by a student who graduated from the Department of Life Design, Faculty of Home Economics in March of the same year while still a student.
