Sederot is situated in the NW Negev desert, 72 km from Tel-Aviv, 20 from Ashqelon and 40 from Be'er Sheva. Est. 1955 and has 35,000 inh. Its name comes from the Bible (Kings A:6:9) and means planks (rows) of cedars.

From a postcard with the municipal emblem issued by the municipality:

Sederot is mentioned in the Bible at the period of King Solomon. The general outline of the emblem expresses the spirit of the place at present and future.
Blue - the sky is blue most of the time.
Gold - the heart of the town citizens is warm and loving like the warm and pleasant sun rays.
Red - roofs - construction and development aimed at improving the quality of life in town.
Furrows - the beauty of nature. The town is immersed in greenery and avenues of trees.

The unoffical flag is the emblem on a monochrome background. There is no specific colour but the favoured colour is light blue/azure.

In my visit in Sederot I found that all the flags in the municipality were with blue emblem on white with no inscription.

Sederot is a municipality since 1996 (it was Local Council since 1958). It became involuntary famous lately as it became a target for rockets that are launched from Gaza Strip.
