Presentation of Sveti Martin na Muri

Sveti Martin na Muri is the northermost municipality in the County and in Croatia, as well, located few kilometers east of Mursko Središće and some 20 km north of Čakovec. There are almost 3,000 inhabitants in the municipality, though the main settlement of the same name has hardly over 500 inhabitants.

Flag of Sveti Martin na Muri

The symbols of Sveti Martin na Muri are prescribed by Decisions Odluka o zastavi Općine Sveti Martin na Muri (flag) and Odluka o grbu Općine Sveti Martin na Muri (coat of arms), both adopted on 29 October 2001 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 29 March 2002 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Međimurske županije, No. 3.
The two Decisions were to became valid after the approval from the Ministry, which was granted on 6 March 2002.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is prescribed in Article 4 of the relevant Decision as follows:

The flag of the municipality is of a single colour, red, with a ratio of its length to width 2:1, in accordance with the legal prescriptions. In the middle of the flag, at the crossing point of its diagonals, is the coat of arms of the municipality, bordered yellow, printed on both sides of the flag.
The ceremonial flag (gonfalon) is made of a highly glossy material, bordered with a golden stripe with knitted fringe.
A copy of a separate document depicting the flag and a copy of the flag are preserved in the Croatian State Archives.

The coat of arms is prescribed in Article 4 of the relevant Decision as follows:

The coat of arms of the Municipality of Sveti Martin na Muri is made of a red semi-circular shield charged with a white goose with yellow legs and beak, symbolizing St. Martin - the patron of the Municipality of Sveti Martin na Muri; in the beak the goose holds a bunch of golden grapes with a green leaf - representing Sveti Martin na Muri as a wine producing region, and below there is a white wavy bar representing river Mura.

The ceremonial flag is also Burgundy red with the coat of arms in the middle, the name of the municipality above and linden and grapevine branches below, ending triangularly with a fringe.
