Ober-Roden Arms

Shield Or with mural embattled base Gules, in chief divided by a chevron Gules, issuant from base a sword Azure.
Meaning:
The oldest known seal of Ober-Roden dates from 1706 and shows the Goddess of Justice. When the town council applied for arms in the 1950s, arms with the balance and sword of Justice were proposed in 1954. Those arms were never adopted, and in 1963 the above arms were approved. These arms show the sword of St. Nazarius, the patron saint of the village. The wall is symbolizing the fact that in 1350 the village was freed, i.e. it received its own court. The chevron is taken from the arms of the Counts of Hanau, who ruled the area.

The shield is Gules, charged with a wheel Argent. Over all is a pale Or charged with a jug Sable.
Meaning:
The arms were approved in 1952 and were newly designed, as no older arms or seals of the municipality were known. The arms display the wheel of Mainz, as the municipality belonged to the Archbishopric of Mainz for many centuries. The jug is a symbol for pottery, a typical industry in the municipality.
