Bernterode Coat of Arms

The shield is green, displaying a lumberman, cleaving a stomp with a hammer and a black wedge, all other charges are silver. Above right is a silver branch of beech having five leaves.
Meaning:
The name of the municipality means something like "forest clearance made by Bernhard". The main ensemble is thus canting. The branch is referring to local beech groves.
