Description of current flag:
It is a red over blue (light) over black horizontal tricolour, the blue stzripe is divided by a white barrulet wavy.

Krummhörn Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Shield parted per fess by a barrulet wavy Argent; above Sable a demi-harpy issuant Or, flanked by two mullets Or; beneath Gules a lion passant Argent.
Meaning:
The harpy is taken from the arms of the Cirksena kin, local chieftains and later on Imperial Counts (Reichsgrafen) and Princes of East Frisia. The family also overtook the mullets from the chieftains of the Idzinga kin. The lion is taken from the arms of the Benninga kin from Grimersum village. The barrulet wavy is symbolising the numerous local water courses.

Greetsiel Village

Greetsiel is located at a small bay in the northwestern part of Krummhörn municipality.

Description of flag:
It is a black over red over blue horizontal tricolour with a coat of arms in the centre, shifted to the bottom. The shield’s top edge is the top line of the red stripe. In the centre of the black stripe is the name of the village in white capitals.
Note: The flag was only used as a jack of local tourist ships. Probably Greetsiel has no village flag of its own.

Greetsiel Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver shield is an a blue ancient ship of Hansa traders, with three masts, being topped by blue mullets. In the centre of the main mast is a black inescutcheon, carrying a golden harpy in a black field, surrounded by four mullets Or.
Meaning:
The inescutcheon is the shield of the Cirksena kin. The ship is symbolizing shipping and fishingas main business lines. The members of the Cirksena kin later on were made Imperial Counts (Reichsgrafen) and Princes of East Frisia. The blue mullets (= spur wheels) are also alluding to them and to the City of Norden. In Greetsiel had been the family seat and castle of the Cirksenas until the 18th century.
