About the district

The Partido de Ramallo is located at north of the province of Buenos Aires, next to Entre Ríos Province. It is at 278 Km from the city of La Plata, capital of the province. It is 952 Km² and it had a total population of 29,179 inhabitants in the last census (2001).

The colonization of the area started in the XVII Century in colonial times. The district was created by provincial law in 1864. Its name recalls a stream that is the border of Ramallo District with the neighboring district of San Nicolás.
